Featured image removal
-
In Edit Post, on the right hand side of the page where all of my editing options are found, in the “Featured Image” box, I do not see the words “Remove Featured Image.” I want to remove the featured image from my latest post–not within the post itself, but on my blog’s main page. Deepest gratitude to anyone who can assist me. :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should see the “Remove Featured Image” link directly below the featured image on the Edit Post screen, like in the following screenshot:
This will keep the image from displaying on your home page. You can still include the image within the content of the post, so visitors can see it when they click on the post.

Thank you for your prompt reply, andrewcpht. I realized that I don’t have a “Featured Image” set which is was why the “Remove Featured Image” link does not appear. When I selected the same image that appears on my blog’s main page as “Featured Image,” then the “Remove Featured Image” link appeared. I clicked it and updated my post. But, the image still appears on my blog’s main page. Short of deleting my post and starting all over, how can I remove an image which is not a “Featured Image”? When I hover over the image in question with my mouse, the words “Permalink to such and such a post” appear. Deepest gratitude to you for any further comment.

Ah, upon further research, it appears that the theme you are using, Triton Lite, looks first for a Featured Image. If the post doesn’t have a featured image, it displays the first image inserted into the post.
This theme is designed for showcasing images (like a photo blog, for example). If need to have images in your posts, but don’t want them on your home page, I’d suggest looking for a different theme.

You are correct. I chose Triton Lite because I wanted to showcase images. As I progressed with blogging, though, I realized that images take up space on the home page and distract from the writing–although I like it when the images appear alongside my articles when I share them. Is it possible to switch to another theme after having paid for Triton Lite? You have been most helpful and I extend my deepest gratitude to you for your insight.
-
It is possible to change themes whenever you want Triton Lite is actually a free theme, so you didn’t pay for it anyway.

@andrewcpht:
If the post doesn’t have a featured image, the main page won’t display the first image inserted into the post, it will display the first image uploaded via the Add Media tool of the post (no matter if you insert it into the post or not, or if you insert another image into the post, etc). Same thing applies for other grid layout themes too, such as Suburbia or The Columnist.@lcr500pr:
a) So, to get rid of that image, go to Media > Library and delete it.
b) ou didn’t pay for Triton Lite, you paid for the Custom Design upgrade. The upgrade goes with the blog, not with the theme, so you can switch to any theme you please, as andrewcpht said.
