    Hi there,

    >is it same as a header?

Do you have this query in regard to your website, https://alafairxvx.wordpress.com/? Can you share some more details about the issue that you are facing?

Through inspect element, I found that your website, alafairxvx.wordpress.com, is working on Libretto theme. This theme’s information page says,

On posts and pages, your Featured Images, if set, will replace your header image. Use a large image and it will display full-screen, with the title of your post or page layered on top.

Therefore, choose the featured images wisely as they appear as the custom headers for your website. See this to know more about your current theme: https://wordpress.com/theme/libretto/

Moreover, if you wish to change the header, you can do that using customizer. Visit My Site -> Customize (button next to Themes) -> Header Image. Refer this support document to know more about header images: https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-header-image/.

Also, please consider this support document to know more about how to use customizer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/

    Hope that helps! :)

The Libretto Theme Showcase page doesn’t show suggested featured image size and from looking in the code, these are the maximum widths and heights for the area for the oversized and full-page images.

    libretto-oversized, 900 x 600
    libretto-fullpage, 1600 x 1000

If you wish shorter images on your site, I would suggest preparing your images so that they are much wider than they are tall, such as the one used on your front page.
