Featured image size within testimonial page – Dyad
-
I have attached logos to my 6 x testimonials in the testimonials section on Dyad. I believe these behave like blog posts. These 6 logos appear on a page in my website carolinemarytest.wordpress.com/credentials but when you click on these links through to the actual individual testimonials the feature image is way to big and looks dreadful. Each of these images are sized as advised to 1800 x 1280. I can’t believe it is meant to look like this but if so please can someone advise how to alter the size within the actual post page. This is a good example of where it looks so wrong. https://carolinemarytest.wordpress.com/testimonial/w-a-ellis/

Hi,
Dyad’s testimonials display in a two panel format, just as posts do on the posts page, each double panel with a featured image on the left and text on the right. This means that a portrait vs. landscape orientation is desirable for a featured image applied to testimonials. All of your file images used for your featured images on the testimonials have been cropped to 960 X 1280.
So 960 x 1280 would be the recommended size if it were included in the Dyad theme guide. Apparently it wasn’t, but that’s not so surprising since there is nothing about testimonials in the guide. This theme is not idea for presenting testimonials, particularly using the featured images that you have, with large font horizontal titles.
The featured image for the testimonial “JLL” is particularly mangled because the size of the file image, https://carolinemarytest.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/jll1.png, is only 337 x 150 pixels.

So 960 x 1280 would be the recommended size if it were included in the Dyad theme guide.
I notice now that the featured images on the front page (posts page) of the Dyad demo are all cropped to 960 x 1280, which in each case I’ve checked severely crops the original file image. So it’s not at all clear to me why they’ve suggested 1800 x 1280 as a file size for featured images, since there appears to be no place on the theme that the full size image can be displayed, even in a minutely scaled version.

Thanks musicdoc1 – I’m certainly finding it a bit frustrating that different themes are good for different aspects of what I want to display on a single site but I’m learning to work around. I had a response back from the Engineers at WP as below so I’m going to try a bit more working around and also try your suggested 960 x 1280 and see what works best. Thanks.
The recommended featured image size on Dyad is 1800 wide by 1280 tall. What I think might work better is to create images where the logo is smaller and centered in a 1800 x 1280 frame. So you’d have a lot of space around it, but I think it would display better. The only problem I can foresee is that it might look strange in the Testimonials shortcode on the Credentials page, but it might look alright, and we might have an easier time fixing that with CSS than the featured images the way they are now.

Hi,
You’re welcome. I should mention that I don’t know anything about CSS customization. Was trying to help solve the issue without CSS. If you have further questions in regarding these issues, or want help wrt CSS customization, please feel free to add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

Thanks – yes the smaller size did work but it just all looks a bit odd so I’m going to change my approach! Can’t face finding another theme as they all seem to have limitations. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
