Featured image to fit on main page

Hi, how can I fit the whole featured image onto my blog’s main page (Gateway theme)? As you can see on my blog, parts of the posts’ featured image is obscured on the main page and as a result I have to add a background colour to my feature images (again as shown on my blog) to ensure the whole image fits. Is there an “image to fit” button somewhere or another alternative to coding? Thank you.

Hi,
I looked at several of your feature images for which the full size file image was easily found. The ones which are failing to be resized to fit the 365 x 365 images displayed on the posts page, are all png format images. I believe this might be the differentiating factor between them and an image such as worth-it.jpg, which is resized to fit the 365 x 365 square despite the fact the the file image is 379 x 291, which scales to 365 x 280. On the other hand, thoughtsinharmony-4.png has a file size of 408 x 317, which scales to 365 x 284. Yet, it is not resized to fit the square, as is worth-it.jpg.
I would try converting the png images to jpg, or simply replace them with jpg images, to see if that might resolve the problem.

The suggested solution will, I think, allow all images of sufficient size (at least 365 pixels wide, and not too much shorter) to be resized to fit the 365 x 365 squares on the posts page. It will NOT necessarily allow you to “fit the whole featured image onto my blog’s main page (Gateway theme).” To achieve the latter, if possible, might require CSS Customization.

Thank you so much! Whilst editing my featured images I did wonder whether the png format had something to do with it but now I know it’s a big possibility it does. Thank you for your help – I will convert them to jpg images and resize them to fit 365 x 365.
