featured image width – change in mobile edin theme

    Hi

I can’t find anything about this topic on the forums. Is there a way to use css code to make featured images appear larger in the mobile version of the edin theme?

The theme layout looks great, but when viewing it on an iPad in portrait mode, the photos shift to a single vertical row and look too small and have huge margins either side. Any text under the photos is left justified with a much smaller margin, so the layout looks kinda unbalanced. By contrast, on a phone screen they look great because they cover the full width of the screen.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Edin is a responsive layout theme. The mobile theme is only intended for sites that are not responsive. Only these themes are responsive layout themes http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/

A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

Hi and thanks for for the quick reply.

I understand that Edin is a responsive theme. Sorry if my question was confusing, but I was trying to find out if there was a way for me to use the css editor to make the site show wider/larger featured images (of linked child pages) or alternatively create narrower margins around these images on grid pages when they show on an iPad in portrait mode. It is only when the site adapts to this view that the side margins around featured images on the home page and other grid template pages become really wide (much wider than the margins for the text under them) and the images are therefore relatively small, which I think creates a worse viewing experience. As I said this doesn’t happen when the site is viewed on a smartphone when the image and text margins are aligned closer to the edge of the screen. So I wonder if it’s possible to amend or duplicate the code used to rearrange the images for a phone screen so that it displays in a similar way on an iPad screen.
This is the only thing that annoys me about an otherwse brilliant theme and I’d love to find a solution.

To get a definitive answer to your question copy and paste the text into a CSS forum thread using this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform
