Featured Images Cropping Incorrectly – Oxygen Theme

I’m working with the Oxygen theme and made my “feature images” all 750 pixels wide so they’d work in the featured image slider on the front of our blog.

However, the slider crops the photos way too close and cuts off my subjects’ heads. Can I edit how the featured slider crops images? I noticed when http://beatroute.ca/ used the same theme, their small thumbnails below the slider show up full-sized in the slider and aren’t crop at all. Any tips on how to do this?

If an image isn’t in the right aspect ratio for the slider, the slider displays the middle section of the image: you can’t change this.
Obviously the slider works better with landscape-shaped images, and you have to take its dimensions into account: width 750px, max height 380px. So you either use images that are roughly in this aspect ratio, or you use an image editing application to crop a copy of the image the way you prefer, upload both the normal version and the cropped one, insert the normal one into the post and set the cropped one as the featured image.

Thanks Justpi. I ended up cropping the photos in Photoshop, saving them to the 750 width and using that as the featured image. A slight pain, but it works a lot better.

    I appreciate you replying!
