Featured images not displaying

  I have the theme Twenty Fourteen for my blog which displays ‘featured’ posts at the top of the page (under the header) but the images are not displaying, only the text. I have optimised my images for the page but still no luck. Anyone know what I can do to fix this? Please help:/
