Featured Images Not Showing On Single Post

Hello, I am having a slight aesthetic issue I was hoping to get some help with.
I love the featured images option. It adds some awesome spark and interesting visuals to blogs. Pretty much everything is working great with my site, except that featured images aren’t showing up on individual posts.
They work fine on the home page and the page listing all my blogs, but they don’t show up at the top of posts themselves.
I wasn’t sure if this was just a theme issue (I am using the Gateway theme), but I do remember them being there previously.
Does anyone have an idea about why this might be happening? Thanks!

Featured images will display on individual posts on most themes, according to my recollection. This is evidently a design choice of the creators of the Gateway theme. You can check and see for yourself that the featured images do not appear on the individual posts of the Gateway demo.

Here’s the Gateway demo blog page: https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/blog/. While most of the posts have featured images assigned, a featured image does not display on any single post.

That is so odd! I thought for sure that I had seen them on the posts previously, but I had been fiddling with a few other themes.
It’s not ideal, but I like pretty much everything else about this theme, so I guess I can live it it. Thanks for your input!
