Featured images not working in Coraline

My featured images have not been working since last night. I noticed there were issues with other themes, but no one seems to have mentioned Coraline. Any idea what the problem might be? Is this a glitch that will fix itself once WP resolves the featured image issue? I asked this question several hours ago, but have heard nothing. I was just afraid maybe my question had been lost in the shuffle, or maybe you all are just insanely busy today. Just checking.

You need to upload images presized to the exact pixel dimensions the theme specifies for header images.

Sorry, I tried that, but it does not work. Also, how am I supposed to go back through all the past posts whose featured images have disappeared over-night? Surely the solution is not to go back and resize all of them. There must be some problem. This is not simply an inability to add featured images to new posts. They’ve disappeared from some posts and not others–none of which were ever sized to the prescribed size in the first place–all of which worked properly yesterday. Can you help me understand this?

Sorry but I’ve tried it too and it does work. Correct dimensions for Coraline are 990×180 pixels.
We volunteers have always recommended uploading featured and header images presized to the right dimensions – otherwise they might show up cropped, distorted, poor quality, black, invisible…
To help you understand why yes in some posts and in others, and why yes in all till yesterday: Previously featured images might work no matter what their size. WP decided to change this, and allow images larger than the proper dimensions but not smaller ones (because smaller ones will be blown up so lose quality). So I guess some of your posts had featured images large enough and some didn’t.
For example, the featured image does show on your post “On Party Apologies and Aging Aches”. The image you had uploaded is this:

It’s 4000×998 pixels, resolution 300 (which is a waste of space and loading time, by the way). -

Are you saying that the featured image size is not 770 x140? The custom header page says:Coraline 770 140 Note: Cutline image size was 990 x 180 (Coraline replaced Cutline)

Thanks, that would explain it! What a nuisance I have to go through all my posts and paged with custom headers and resize them! I don’t think there is even a way to search for posts with custom headers!

just to let you know that I have resized some images and confirmed that it now works. I have to say that I am not happy with this change to the look of existing posts
