Featured images on pages too big, huge! (Business Identity)

    I was wondering if I could make the “featured images” which appear on my pages (other than the front page and the blog pages) smaller. They are so big that it overwhelms the entire page, and you have to scroll quite a bit even to get to the content of the page.

    I assume they need to be kept with the same width (the entire width of the page), but can I make them with less height?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there, I clicked through to several of your posts, and on at least one, I found a bunch of gmail related stuff which makes me think you copied and pasted out of an email. Although this doesn’t always create problems, it can cause your site to go awry and the gmail code can conflict with the theme code. If you copy and paste from other sources, always paste into a plain text program first and the copy out from the plain text editor and into the WordPress editor so that the code will be stripped out.

    On existing posts that were copied and pasted from gmail, you can use the remove formatting button on the lower row of editor icons. (Row 2, #7)

    On the featured images, this is a challenge on responsive width themes where the featured image goes full width. If we make the image smaller, you are then going to have gaps at left and right of the image.

    My suggestion is to creat images that aren’t too tall and that way the theme will adjust to that image. Your theme suggests a width of 1440px for the featured images, but you can have them any height you want, so just make them perhaps 300-400 pixels in height.

    Thank you. I guess I’ll have to edit images with Photoshop for 300-400 pixels high before I put them into featured images.

    As to what you mentioned about gmail, I am not sure I am understanding what you’re saying. Are you referring to “posts” as in the blog pages? If so, which one, and what is the gmail related stuff? I’m confused.

    Hi, yes, in a couple of posts I checked. If I look at FDF 2017 Update, and click on the text tab in the post editor, I’m seeing this starting out.

    <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Dear Resurrection Parishioners:</span></p>
    <p class="p1"><span class="s1">As fast as FDF 2017 came, it went. ...

    Notice the class designation? Those don’t exist in the theme, they came from somewhere else.

    In the Bay Area GOYA Lenten Retreat post, I’m seeing it start out like this.

    <div class="m_-5431555645536725517gmail-_2qgs">
    <div class="m_-5431555645536725517gmail-text_exposed_root m_-5431555645536725517gmail-text_exposed"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-631" src="https://cvresurrection.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/goya-lenten-retreat.jpg" alt="goya-lenten-retreat" width="960" height="720" /></div>
    </div>
    <div class="m_-5431555645536725517gmail-_2qgs"></div>

    All those class designations are from a gmail email. If you open the post, switch to the Visual tab in the editor and highlight all the content in the post and then click the Clear Formatting button, it will strip it all out so there aren’t any potential issues.

    I didn’t check any other posts, but just open each in the post editor, switch to the text tab and look for stuff like the above. If you find any, switch to Visual, highlight everything and clear the formatting.

    Ah, gotcha. I’ll do that right now. Thank you!
