Featured Images & Theme Options

  If a web site uses a theme which has hundreds of individual posts with “featured images” – wherein no images are included directly into the post itself, only through the sidebar “featured images” area – and if the site administrator would like to change themes to instead use a theme which doesn’t accommodate the “featured images” option, is there any way to facilitate such a change without having to individually edit each post?

  Or, unless one is willing to commit an entire day to the repetitive editing of each and every single post, are users of “featured images” compatible-themes limited to similar such themes?

  For example, if I should decide to switch from the Baskerville theme to the Blask theme…
