Featured Images to Facebook stopped working.

    Hello, my blog is http://tfaswift.com/. I use featured images for all my posts. I use Publicize to connect my blog to my Facebook time line. Up until recently, the images which showed up in Facebook were the featured images from my posts. But recently things have been going haywire with the wrong images showing up in FB. Most often, it is just some random image from the inside (content) of the post rather than the featured image. Sometimes it was my WP Gravatar that showed up as the image on FB.

    Things I have done recently which may have affected it are to join Twitter and connect all three things – WP, FB and Twitter with everything going everywhere, i.e. WP Publicizing to Twitter as well as FB. FB posts showing up on Twitter. Tweets showing up on FB. And finally I have added the Twitter widget to my footer area.

    I also found some app in my Facebook account called “Gravatar” which I have subsequently deleted. Since then, my WP Gravatar has not shown up on FB instead of my featured image, BUT I am still getting random images from the content of my post instead of the featured image.

    For a long time, the featured images were the only images to show up in FB when I published a new post, and there were never any problems, so this is recent and seems to coincide with trying to link WP, FB *and* Twitter. I have also disconnected Twitter from Publicize and from Facebook completely (going in both directions). So now the only connection I have with Twitter is through the Twitter widget in my footer. My Twitter username is SwiftExpression.

    Today, however, I published a post and it’s still not working. The featured image did not show up in FB; instead it was one of the images that I had in the content of my post.

    Please help! I don’t know how to get things back to the way they were so that my featured images show up on my FB timeline whenever I use Publicize to connect to my FB account.

    Hi there,

    Strange indeed! Did you recently switch your theme? I notice that the featured images aren’t showing up in your timeline, and I wonder if that is related.

    I also know that Facebook has a minimum size for the images it pulls in, so it may be grabbing the first image that fits that requirement (I don’t know the specifics). Perhaps try your next post with a largish featured image to at least rule that out?
