featured photo doesn't show on website

Hi, I’ve tried all sorts to get the featured images to show on my website but I can’t figure it out. Can you help/let me know what I need to do to get the images to go across?

Go to https://wordpress.com/theme/eighties and scroll down to Featured Images there please. Featured Images are 1000 wide by unlimited height.

Thanks for responding, I’ve gone down to 900 width X 558 height on one of my posts, I’ve updated my website, re-started both blog and website and the cover images are still not visible.
Is there something else I need to do? :-( -

Hi there,
The featured image is there on your first post – it’s being used as the background for the post on the front page because you have that post set to the Image post format. If you edit the post and switch it to the standard format, the featured image will appear above the post title instead and the post will have a plain white background, like it also appears on the single post view.

Thanks for trying to help.
I’ve changed everything – set them to standard – and the featured images for the blog posts still don’t show up on my website. I have a huge white space where the main photo should be for each post. I’ve tried taking the featured images off so that it’s just the title of the post but I still have a huge white space. :-(
If there’s something else I can do please let me know, otherwise, I think I’ll have try a different blog site to create as it just looks bland :-(

The featured images are on the blog, they don’t transfer to my website.

All my replies thus far has been based on the site, cjmasonsite.wordpress.com, which you indicated in your original post that you need help with.
https://cjmasonbooks.com/ is not a WordPress.com site, and you have not mentioned that site once yet in this thread. We have no control over that site or what happens there as it’s on GoDaddy’s servers, not ours.
If the featured images are not showing on that site it points to a problem with whatever plugin you’re using to embed your blog on that site. That’s not something we can help with, so you’ll either need to contact the developer of the plugin you’re using, or post in the self-hosted WordPress forums:

I guess I didn’t make it obvious in my first post, but I did say I couldn’t get the featured images to show up on my website.
Now I Know it’s not something to do with wordpress I’ll see if I can get help via GoDaddy. :-)

http://cjmasonsite.wordpress.com/ is a website. All blogs are websites, even though all websites aren’t blogs.
