Featured photo when sharing my link

  • Unknown's avatar

Whenever I post my main website’s URL no photo is featured with the link. I read about installing a plugin to be able to do this but you have to have the business package to do so. Any suggestions for the premium package? I hate just having a link with a blank thumbnail when I share my site.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi slockhart06482,

To have the Featured image appear, do the following.

To edit from the front end:

Click ‘edit’ on the bottom right side
then Page settings on the top right side
Click ‘Featured Image’ then ‘Set Featured Image’
Choose or upload your image and save
    the save your page

Thanks frankwarwick. But how about if I have multiple images in a gallery on a page and I want to highlight each of them in turn on twitter or facebook?
When I paste the URL on either twitter or facebook, it ignores the last part (e.g. /#jp-carousel-2457) and just defaults to a thumbnail of the first image on the page, regardless of which carousel-number I paste.
Setting a featured image doesn’t solve the problem, because I want different tweets to link to different images on the one WordPress.com page.
Is there any way of ensuring the correct image is selected for each different tweet or facebook post?
    Thanks
    Justin
P.S. The page in question is https://drjustincoleman.com/med-careers/

If you want to feature individual image on FB or Twitter, you will need to link the image first then add your content.

Thanks Frankwarwick, but if I understand you correctly, I have tried it and it still doesn’t work.
When you say I’ll “need to link the image first then add content”, I assume you mean that the first thing I do on my FB or Twitter post is to paste the image’s URL — for example https://drjustincoleman.com/med-careers/#jp-carousel-2458
Then I add content (text only) after doing this.
However, both FB and Twitter still interpret that link as pointing to the first of the 80 images on that page. This doesn’t change, regardless of which of the other 79 images I link to, each with a different four-digit number at the end of the link.
Or did you mean something else when you wrote “link the image first”?
    Thanks again, Justin

You are going about it all wrong,
Link the image, add your text then a link to the page at the bottom
    There is no short cut
Do not link to the carousel, it will never work

“Do not link to the carousel, it will never work”
Okay, now I get it. I haven’t found those words written anywhere else, despite much searching. All my previous efforts were variations on linking to the carousel.
    Thanks for the clarification. J
