I want to employ 2014 theme but I cant work out how to employ the 6 featured posts. Whatever I do to follow your instructions it doesn’t work. Please help because I think the theme is great and this is one of the most attractive features.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy,
There are a couple of steps to take to use the featured posts option.
First, after activating Twenty Fourteen, visit the Appearance->Customize option in your Dashboard at http://jamoroki.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ and select the Featured Content tab.
Enter a tag you want to use for the posts to appear in the “featured” grid or slider as seen here: https://cloudup.com/cy3CW6YkN77
Then in the posts themselves, tag the ones that you’d like to use with that same tag and ensure they have a Featured Image assigned to them.
Once all that is done, it should display for you. If you run into problems, please leave it as it is and let me know. I’d be happy to take a closer look.
Cheers!

Thanks a lot Kraftbj.
It was just 2 small things – I mistook ‘tag’ for ‘category’ and didn’t realise you had to assign ‘featured image’ as well.
Now it works perfectly and I must say despite some detractors it really makes my blogs look great. Well done WP.
One more question please. Is it possible to change the order of featured posts so I can always show my No. 1 first on the slider? -
Hi,
The slider will show posts in chronological order, from the newest displayed first. The only work around is to reschedule your #1 to be the newest post, though that does change the URL of the post (from http://example.wordpress.com/2013/12/01/post-title to http://example.wordpress.com/2013/12/04/post-title, for example).
Cheers!
