featured posts in twenty fourteen

I’m trying to set feature content. I tagged a few posts with ‘featured’ and in customized section it is marked with grid but nothing has changed. I want them in the header.

The slider is only for some posts. It’s not intended to be used for all posts. If you place every post in the slider then none will appear below. When a featured post with a featured image is placed in the slider then it does not display on the same page ie. on the front page of the blog in the stream of posts. Also note when a post is featured in the grid it will not appear again on the same page in the stream of posts.
