Featured tag disappeared again

    @kokkieh,
    One of my featured posts just ‘fell off’ its featured spot without my (knowingly) having changed its settings. Its ‘featured’ tag is gone. When I searched (under old admin page’s Posts>Tags> search for Featured) a list of 4 of the 5 posts that i HAD tagged ‘featured’ comes up, but only two of these actually still has the tag “featured” listed. See screenshot.

    Only the two posts I marked (with a red x at the left) still contain a featured tag, so I assume the other two posts would eventually ‘drop off’ their pedestals on my home page like the missing one has (Pick-up 3: Flat braids).

    I don’t know when exactly this recent stuff happened as I haven’t been checking up on my featured tags lately, and I don’t look at my home page every day. I’m pretty sure I looked at it a few days ago and Pickup 3: Flat Braids was still up in top Featured position then.

    It’s possible I didn’t correctly follow the steps you listed when this bug was fixed? I just wanted to document this for now before I go in and add the featured tags back in.

    Final update: This should now be fixed for good. If the steps I explained about to resave the featured tag in the Customizer doesn’t work, please let me know.

    Hi ingridcc,

    Thanks for mentioning this. I’ve passed the information and screenshot on to our developers so they can take another look at what is causing this to happen.

    I’ll keep you updated with our progress and thanks for bearing with us.

    update:
    I added the featured tags back to my 5 posts at the end of March. As of 15 minutes ago, only one of them still had its tag (“Braid a 10-loop braid with a friend!”).

    Yet all 5 were still featured on my home page.

    Then I opened the editing page for the lowest post on the list (in Screenshot B) – “Welcome to Loop Braiding” – and clicked “save” (without making any changes to the post), at which point that post dropped off its featured spot on the home page, and also off the list shown in screenshot B.

    I’m going to add the featured tag back in to that post now, but not to any of the other posts until I have to update any of them. So at this point, 2 posts will have a featured tag, and all 5 should be in featured slots on the home page (unless I happen to update one without remembering to also add its featured tag back in).

    This is the exact same bug as before – it doesn’t seem as if anything has changed.

    Hi ingridcc,

    Thanks for the extra information — it would be great if you could keep the screenshots in your Media Library for now. We are still looking into what is causing the featured tag to be removed. I don’t have any news for you just yet but I’ll reply here when I do.
