Featured tag misuse

I am new on blogging, i use Twenty Fourteen theme and i love it. But i accidentally misused the “featured” tag because i used it on every post in order for my posts to appear on the featured post slider. But i have problems with Reader, my posts do not appear there apparently because i use featured so many times. What should i do?
I wanna keep the slider but i also want my posts to appear on Reader and in search engines!

Even if you did not use a theme with a featured post slider every published post would appear in the Reader and be indexed by search engines unless you are tag spamming. All reasons for non-appearance of posts on Topics pages can be found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts
If you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to your posts, you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal of the excess categories and/or tags note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.

Two questions then:
What is the approximate limit i can use this tag on?
If i delete the tag from all the previous posts, will that fix the problem?
