featured TEXT, not featured image
-
Hi,
Quick question. Seems like everyone here is asking about the featured [image] on the homepage, but I’ve already got that covered to my satisfaction. What I want to know is: is there a way to standardized/rotate featured TEXT in the same way? I would like to be able to have a text box that automatically gives a preview of post that’s associated with the featured image: is there any way to feature the actual /language/ of the post, in a way similar to how each post gets excerpted/featured in the center column down below?
If there isn’t a way to do that, is there a way to get the “featured image” to [1] have it’s own CAPTION that previews/hints at the post it’s associated with, like in an online magazine? [2] is there a way to get these featured images to actively rotate between the 5 or so most recent “featured” posts?
Because my blog will largely be focusing on the actual writing, I want to make sure that the posts/writing — and not only the images — are also getting featured up top, and that the features can be dynamic without my manually having to switch things in and out.
Thanks in advance, everyone!

Sure thing — sorry about that. http://melvillmatic.wordpress.com/
I’m talking about the text where it says “(Testing).”
But actually I think my second set of questions (re: captions and rotating image) are more crucial.
