  what difference does the featured theme on word press makes?
  why should one choose a featured theme not a free theme?

  If your happy with a free theme that’s super. Some people think that the paid-for themes make the sites stand out from the crowd more. (Disclaimer: I use a free theme and am quite happy with it)
