This is not for my sidebar. My feed was not being picked up by Japanalyst so I went to feedburner to check it’s health. I fixed all of the other problems but cna’t find this code anywhere?
Here is the email I got back from Japanalst:
“Well, I’m afraid the RSS reader in Japanalyst is a bit sensitive, and so it’s struggling with your feed a little. The message I’m getting is :
Failed to parse RSS feed A typical Life: EntityRef: expecting ‘;’ at line 85.I’m not sure what the problem is, and don’t have the time to track it down, so I apologize.
Hopefully, the problematic post will get out of your feed in 8-9 posts :P “This is all new to me so any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here is the link to the feedburner comments:

That’s not a Feedburner feed — it’s your WordPress feed — nor is the validator Feedburner. Do you use Feedburner?
-
The feedburner feed has the same error: http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A//feeds.feedburner.com/AtypicalLife
I still needs / at the end of mrss but I can’t figure out the course of the code?

Well, I’m not sure how to fix the http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/ (which in my example has the / after the mrss) since I don’t know where that is.
The direct feed on your blog is at: feed://atypicallife.wordpress.com/feed/ .
The second document below talks about the / thing and that people should set up their RSS readers to accept it either with or without the /.
http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=feed%3A%2F%2Fatypicallife.wordpress.com%2Ffeed%2F
http://feedvalidator.org/docs/warning/MediaRssNamespace.htmlBasically I’m lost on this one. Hopefully someone else will come in with an answer or a suggestion. Perhaps send the second link along to Japanalst and they can look into allowing the feed either way.

I don’t think it is something you can change, and may not be something wordpress can change.
I would suggest contacting support http://wordpress.com/contact-support/ (Mon-Fri 8am-4pm Pacific time) or using the “support” button in the upper right of your dashboard.

Have you checked your Feed Medic report? It tends to be in plainer English. The link for it is on the first screen after you sign in.

Thanks, I’m stumped too as I can’t seem to find the source code. I suspect it is in the theme and I haven’t paid to edit it so not sure what to do if that is the case….
I’ll wait to see if anyone else has any great ideas. Thanks again.

All you can edit in the theme, is the CSS with the CSS upgrade, and it would not be in there. We cannot hack the theme html since this is a multi-user platform and we all use the same files. I actually suspect it may be in the underlying code files, which only staff has access to, which is why I suggested you contact staff about it. We are all just volunteers here in the forums and do not have access to the back end.

You’re welcome. I understand your frustration. Maybe Japanalyst could take the Feedburner feed instead?

I have contacted support and I’ll let you know what they come up with. Thanks again for your suggestions!

I ran your feed through Feed Validator and it throws out the same error. In fact, it seems to do it for all of the WordPress.com feeds I tried. They offer some more guidance here about this issue, but it seems that no-one can decide what the standard is, so sometimes it gets interpreted as an error.
The part of the code that needs changing is in an area that you can’t edit yourself (not sure if you could even with the CSS upgrade – perhaps someone who has the upgrade could offer an opinion), so unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be anything you can do about it. Sorry.

@wolf
From reading in the link (and reference links) to the explanation that you provided, it isn’t a wordpress issue either, it’s a Yahoo issue that has been around since October of 2005, and the official Yahoo mrss specification actually states it should be without the trailing /. Yahoo it seems has created themselves an RSS tar pit. -
How interesting….not much help though, I am waiting to hear back from WordPress support and will let you know what they say. If I get a chance I will also link them to this thread.
