Feed Readers

Any chance of having a ‘who is subscribed to the feed’ function with the feed stats?

I use Bloglines and Feedblitz, others use Feedburner (there’s a list as long as my arm) hence I’m not sure how wordpress would know who my subscribers are. And I’m pretty sure if that was known we would be paying for an upgrade to get that kind of precise detail. In fact I expect when the improvements are rolled out in April we will be reaching for our wallets to get detailed information.
But the only way you will know for sure is to wait until Monday and then ask staff in a feedback. They only deal with urgent stuff on weekends.

Can you tell us what information you’re looking for on your feed readers? That would help us help you.

You have some basic information at Dashboard -> Feed Stats if that helps.

The dashboard feedstats are not so helpful to analysis without infomation regarding the organisations/individual subscribers. I do not think that this is an overly technical request since some basic origin of referrer information is available for page stats. Enough information to analyse our pages could be helpful

    Thanks

I repeat my question as to what data you’re looking for. Normally one doesn’t have to submit an email address or any other information to pick up a feed.

To be honest, data collection of visitors is more of a policy question that we don’t touch here in the forums. As I read the ToS, having Automattic pass down things like IP addresses and email addresses to end users isn’t allowed as it would make it third party.

I’m going to send in a feedback to staff and see if we can get some input on this from them.

First, you cannot know ‘who’ is reading your feed. That’s impossible unless you know your friend uses a particular reader and you see that in your stats. All that is seen is a reader from an IP got the feed. If an IP is not static for someone your chances of finding them out are almost zero. If someone has a static IP the chances are also equally small. So if you are after “Mark from IP xx.xx.xx.xx reads your feed” then it cannot happen.
Browser stats give much more information and it can’t be done from there.

As for release of information? No. It would be a privacy issue and as it is we work hard on bringig current stats in. To then add a whole new layer and then support of “Who is at that IP?” type questions would not do a whole lot.

We would not release the data.
