You want to click the “approve” underneath the comment. That will make the comment appear on the site.

Feedback or comment? If it is feedback, that is a private message sent only to you via a contact form. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

You can reply to the person, which will expose your email address, and ask them to post it as a comment or ask them for their permission to copy/paste it as a comment, after you log out of your site, otherwise it will show up as your comment.:)

@thesacredpath there is no approve as thats what I looked for, its only ‘Spam or trash’

@justjennifer, it says feedback….ah right….how do i stop the email comments though or is that becuase of the form I have placed on the site?

How do I get pure comments then….?

PS @justjennifer if i did that copy and paste would that not appear as my self, or look copied….or would it look like shes done it? (Never done it obviously!)

Feedback comes in via the contact form as Jennifer says. That is separate and different from comments. Most likely the person did not want the comment to be public, so they used your contact form to send it directly to you instead.

Thankfully Jennifer was here to catch that. I’ve never even looked at the feedback thing and just found 6 in there from back in January (oops!).

@sharon, I would never post something that someone sent to you via your contact form (a feedback). There is a reason they did not make it a comment directly on the blog, and to me it would be wrong to post it unless you got their permission first.

Think of feedback as a personal communication to you. Comments are public.

@thesacredpath thanks for that, so what you are saying is, im better off getting rid of the custom form and leaveing it so people can leave comments soo then I can approve them as I see them??

Ah right I think I follow all that and the difference tho I have to confess i have to look at that link @justjennifer sent me as I havent had chance –

Ive now removed the comment form so now I should get feedback left on the site now ready for me to approve – yes?

Oh gosh I would never post something that some one sent me (Now you have told me this) before I asked permission.

Thanks @thesacredpath, that last bit of information was most helpful! Now i shall await for your reply on the rest of my new question! XXXX

No, you want to keep both ways, the public comments and also the contact form. Some people may not feel comfortable commenting in public or they might want to communication something of a more private nature and you want to provide a way for them to do that. You need to provide both ways.

Right so I need to re install so to speak the custom form? Ive only put it on the First page ie about this website – dont need to put it on every page do i?

The public comment form is already there isnt it?

So now that I’ve finished ironing, I come back and find a whole thread. ;-) Yes, what both tsp and I said is correct. Feedback=private; Comment=public

Since I can’t see the site you are talking about, I can only assume you used a static front page instead of the Posts page. If so, just enable Comments on that page. If you’ve got some other arrangement, please give us the link so we can have a look.

Haha @’justjennifer, I am still doing mine, and multi taskign at the same time!

    ok here is my site

    http://guyhenry.wordpress.com/

I have currently removed the custom form for the time being, thinking it was the right hting to do so have to put it back on again.

Have a look at the link and let me know :) I am also presuming (Since this is the 1st site in this theme published) that the public comments are automatically there ? :)
