  I have a section where people shall be able to book their appointments and would like to use a simple form with 3 fields: email address, phone number and comment field for this.
  Is it possible on wordpress and if so how do I get it up & running?

  I’m afraid that here at WordPress.com the closest you can get to that is the standard Contact Form.
