Feedback Needed! Incorporating video blogging with current blog. Good or bad??

Some friends have suggested I create some videos of my sharing personal experiences relating to overcoming adversity. I am trying to determine how feasible this is, for me.

Here are my questions. How can I best do this? Is this something that can be incorporated into my current blog, Inspiration Point? My blog site is at http://www.inspiration-point.org. I have already created some videos, a while back. From what I’ve seen of the comments, it seems I did a better job than I thought. I no longer have the old PC that is making all that noise in the background or the digital camera. I currently have Windows 7 running on a Pentium 4 (2.8Ghz) with 2GB of RAM and a 512MB graphic video card. Yes, the card allows me to run Aero. My only camera is a MS LifeCam HD-5001 webcam and I’m using Windows Movie Maker (2011).

Any ideas or comment? Is this a good idea or what? Or, am I better off with just writing? I am using this place to get some needed unbiased commentaries.

Here is a rephrasing of the question. Is video storytelling a good way to liven up a blog? I’m not planning to abandon writing; rather add to it. Does this help? Or, should it be in a different forum?

Videos are very, very hot right now, and can gain you a whole new audience. If you’re looking for specific advice about videocasting technology, though, you’re looking in the wrong place.

Then combining video storytelling and plain writing can be a great way to go, right? I am guessing by the ton of videos on Youtube; people either want to be entertained or shown “how to”. I’ll stick with the entertaining storytelling.

Here is an amusing thought. I am perfectly willing to share my stories and thoughts via the written words. Yet, I am oddly hesitant about doing a video version of these story. Of course, it will be just me sitting in front of my webcam.

As for videocasting technology, what is a good place to gain some insights as how to best use what I have.

Yes, combining the two is going to give you the best of both worlds. Never forget, however, that what google indexes is TEXT, so don’t ever post just a video.

If you want an example of somebody who feels the fear of doing these videos and does them anyway, check out Brian Atene.

As for where to find the best advice on technology, I haven’t the faintest. Try google.
