Feedback on new block editor
-
Am I understanding correctly that in the new block editor, there is no way to resize images if they are added to a tiled or collage block? I can resize images after they are uploaded as single images, but I cannot seem to resize images in a tiled block. I write a sewing blog, and I used to insert two images side by side. I resize them in the editor after uploading, because it seems to keep the crispness of the image that gets lost if I save a smaller image size before uploading. I’m also having a terrible time wrapping my head around this whole ‘block’ concept when to me conceptually, my entire post is one block. I just want to open the editor, write my text and insert my images as needed. I’ve been using the free WordPress site because I am terrible at web design and coding, but the rich text makes sense to me. This new block concept does not.

Hi –
That’s correct, it’s not possible to edit the image size on the gallery options as you’ve described.
Have you considered using the column block? You could insert an image in to each as you mentioned. Let me know how that works out.

Hi there, hope you don’t mind me adding to this discussion. It helped me to think of blocks as content types that make up a post, such as images, text, video, etc. Each content type has its own block that you can do much more with than the standard “rich text.”

Hi @caitsheldon
Here is a good example of how you can use the columns block (with an image in each column) to make sure that your images are the same size and display next to each other correctly.
You can view a video of how to do this at the following link: https://d.pr/v/4ZvSea
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
