Feedback on new browser navigation experience

Howdy! This left sidebar now appears in place of the top-of-page, well-used and easy to access Admin bar on my Profile page, in the Reader, on the MySites page and probably other areas of the site that I haven’t encountered yet.

Bottom of sidebar The visual icons at the bottom of the sidebar are self-explanatory, take me directly to the relevant page and that’s great. It’s when I click the “magnifying glass” icon (“Jump to…”, AKA Command Palette) at the top of that same sidebar that things get hairy.
Clicking that icon, an overlay window pops up with a long, too long list of command choices, most of which have no relevance to my account or sites. I dislike (find annoying) having to power-scroll through that long list to get to what I think I need. And yes, I can see there is a search box at the top, but that works mostly if you know what you’re looking for.
I hope that someone is working on making that command palette more relevant to our individual account and sites rather than requiring site owners to power scroll through that list. More clicks, more scrolling, more frustration.

Adding: the sidebar on these newly redesigned pages doesn’t respect my dashboard color choice in my account settings. Having different dashboard colors for different accounts helps me visually differentiate which account I’m currently logged into on WordPress.com.

Thank you for the feedback. Can I just get a bit more specific to check that I understand what you’re saying?
I think you’re saying this: When you’re on a page with the new navigation, some of the commands ought to be hidden if you don’t have any sites capable of using them. So for example, if you don’t have any sites on the Creator plan, the “Open hosting configuration” command isn’t relevant at all to you and you shouldn’t see it.
By the way, it’s hidden away right now but you can launch the command palette on pages without the new sidebar by using a keyboard shortcut (
command and korctrl and kdepending upon whether you’re on mac or windows). When you do this on a page like your site dashboard, the command list is tailored to the specific site you’re on the dashboard for. Hope that makes sense!Please keep the feedback coming,

Exactly. And thanks for the tip regarding the keyboard shortcut. It will be more useful when it isn’t necessary to scroll through the entire long list. :)
Don’t forget the dashboard color scheme. That is a very useful feature.
