Feedback: WordPress is NOT user friendly!

Sadly, I need to say this, hoping that somehow the software engineers at WordPress will get the message.

There’s no point going into unncessary details. If anyone uses WordPress for their blog then they know it is slow and klunky. You spend more time waiting for pages to reload and, apparently, java scripts to run, than you do actually writing and posting. I’m using ADSL, and should expect faster response than the software is delivering.

And the editor is terrible. By comprison, for example, look at this useful forum editor. I just type, and when I’m done, I’ll press Send Post. Voila! Why make it any more complicated than that?

As it is, even though I may have something important to post on my blog, I avoid it, because I know it will be one hassle after another.

In the final analysis, you want something that makes it FUN to post to your blog, not an obstacle.

You know what would solve this: provide a way that I can *email* a post to my blog. Then I can bypass all the unnecessarily difficult WordPress menus and commands.

The engineers don’t generally read the forum. Virtually everyone here is a volunteer.

Well I never knew WordPress could be slow and klunky, are youserious? To me every WordPress stuff works fine, so fine, even when I use a Sony Ericsson.

I really like the editor (I’m on a Mac and no troubles). Most of us don’t just type on our blogs, we add links, images, photos, etc., and the wordpress editor makes it quick and easy to do just that.

    Sorry you’re having difficulty.

Honestly, i think their are frustrations in every blogging platform. I had real problems with the google blog-spot dashboard, didn’t like the lack of support of forums. So i feel more confortable with wordpress.

I guess each blogger different. Some people love wordpress, some like other platforms.

If anyone uses WordPress for their blog then they know it is slow and klunky.

loading is perfectly fine for me and i’m sure for the majority of other users. otherwise we’d be hearing similar complaints in the forums.

And the editor is terrible. By comprison, for example, look at this useful forum editor. I just type, and when I'm done, I'll press Send Post. Voila! Why make it any more complicated than that?

as mentioned by onemom, we don’t just write on our blogs. there are links, images, videos etc to post as well. just because you prefer to use your blog minimally does not make the editor terrible.

As it is, even though I may have something important to post on my blog, I avoid it, because I know it will be one hassle after another.

you should consider another blogging platform that is more convenient and easier for you then, instead of complaining about it, since it’s clearly not working for you.

In the final analysis, you want something that makes it FUN to post to your blog, not an obstacle. You know what would solve this: provide a way that I can *email* a post to my blog. Then I can bypass all the unnecessarily difficult WordPress menus and commands.

the e-mail feature is not available at the moment; it might in the future if i’m not mistaken. we can post to our blogs via our mobiles, though.

if you find wp.com difficult, you should try other blogging platforms. i heard blogger is easier for new bloggers.

ALL I have to say is WORDPRESS ROCKS!!!

  • If you dislike the visual post editor, go here:

    http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php

and uncheck the “Visual Editor” box.

If you’d like to help the engineers improve WordPress, we like unnecessary details. Details we can fix.

I use Windows Live Writer to do my editing and personally find it exceptionally easily done that way.
I’m no apologist and certainly very very far from being technically savvy but this way (Live Writer) I’ve found a way that is simple enough for me to manage but also works well with WordPress.com which suits me very well as a platform.

I always considered wordpress the best in all aspects but I have to agree to a certain extent about the speed. Usually I’m on my own high speed connection at home and wordpress runs smoothly as always. On slower connections though wordpress can actually be a bit slower compared to other blogs. I’m not sure why the slower connection hurts wordpress more.

Sorry you’re having so many difficulties. My blogging needs are relatively simple, I suppose, and for the cost of the service (free, that is), I am more than pleased with the return on my investment.

Show me something in life that doesn’t have a learning curve. I suspect the underlying issue here isn’t about user friendliness but patience to learn something that can be so rewarding.

    If you use

You might be pleasantly surprised by the simplicity!

“You spend more time waiting for pages to reload and, apparently, java scripts to run, than you do actually writing and posting”….ahem, I think that’s a little melodramatic…unless of course you write less than 10-word posts which don’t take very long to whip up….

I have used three different blog platforms and find WordPress very user friendly and easy. From six years of blogging experience, I realize that when they make changes it sometimes takes a little adjustment time, but I have never had problems with WordPress being slow. Maybe it’s your internet hookup.

So, Mr Uebersax thinks that WordPress is not user-friendly. The same Mr Uebersax highlights this in his website:

“Unless you become as little children, you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:2-4”

Admittedly, little children may have some difficulty with the WP editor. Adults generally don’t.

(Adults can also count verses more accurately: it’s Matthew 18:3.)

I would like to say. I am relatively new to wordpress but not to blogging! I got to say wordpress is by far the best I have used. Great easy usability. For free this to me is excellent an in depth editor. Also you can just copy and paste from word which I don’t do myself but have seen it done and it is great.

The Forums are great and the Technical support is excellent really fast and in-depth.

I have recently had a problem with posting pictures hosted on 3rd party sites since the Tree button vanished!

But with a few emails from Tech support I am flying again.

Not only does wordpress in my opinion have everything you would want from a blogging service the finished posts look professional.

One word to finish with on WordPress as a whole. EXCELLENT!!
