feedburner and wordpress.com – providing an actual subscription link to your Wor

    This is an old post. In case someone comes upon it now: we can use feedburner at wordpress.com for offering email updates to our subscribers http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/11/how-can-i-offer-email-updates/

    Wow, what a winding thread this is. What were we talking about, again?

    Feedburner is great, esp with email feature, and if interested in feedburner, I recommend you go directly to their site to learn about it if you don’t want to wade through any more of these wordpress threads to find it. But it will only track stats on its own feed (though yes, feedburner feed can be read by many readers.) As stated at the top of this thread, The problem is that Feedburner won’t track feed stats for anyone subscribing to wordpress.com feeds, as a large portion of readers do. For instance, yesterday WordPress.com feed stats said I had 45 subscribers. Today, Feedburner claims I have only 2. In another thread, moderator Dr. Mike recommends sitemeter.com, with the caveat that you must find and select the wordpress.com option, as default sitemeter uses java script not supported by wordpress.

    Here’s a question which just may start another “look it up in the forums!” thing, but yes or no, somebody: does sitemeter.com measure ALL subscribers (including wordpress feeds?)

    We need a quick, easy, solution ASAP. Otherwise, I volunteer to drive the bus over to typepad…

    @almostgotit
    You have repeatedly posted to old threads presumably for the purpose of criticizing the volunteers answering questions on the forum. I have entirely lost patience with your uppity attitude and your snide remarks. From here on out, be prepared to choke on double servings of every nasty remark you make to any volunteers on this forum because I’ll be dishing them out faster than you can swallow.

    Oh and here’s an appetizer just for you. I dumped all my sitemeter accounts because they have a business arrangement with advertisers with whom they share the data they collect on our blogs. And their cookies have no expiry dates. You’ll find this information and more corroboration in the forum searchbox yourself, because, due to your attitude, I won’t be doing that for you.

    does sitemeter.com measure ALL subscribers

    No, it does not. Just the visits to the website, not the feed counts.

    You really need to learn some manners.
