Feedburner and WP Ping-o-Matic
-
If I understand correctly, WP uses Ping-O-Matic to automatically ping over 15 different services. Feedburner appears to be the hot management tool also pinging multiple services plus many other features. Can I use both services without causing a loop or conflict? Or must Feedburner be used as complement? How does it work?

As far as I know, you can add any number of pingers to WP.com with no penalties. I’ve been using Pingoat.com for a year with no problems. It’s a good idea because, frankly, sometimes Pingomatic, however great and robust it may be, has lapses, and in those lapses the other services step up.

I have problems too. I need to get my feed to this very important Danish site. Please press the link and you will see why. It presents each and every single post you write. It shows the most important political blogs in Denmark.
But sometimes the ping is up to 6 or 8 hours behind. So my posts land waaay down the page. On WordPress.org they do ping the address above directly. But I am not sure, the same the case on WordPress.com? I guess it isn’t.

What is needed is a go-between, I guess. A place, where one can ask a third service to pick up and then send my feet to Politik.blogbot.dk.
Where can I find a service like that? I really would be a great help, if I could find a solution.
The problem is, that some of us live in small language areas and the organizations that services bloggers in a small country like Denmark do not have the same capacity server-wise and otherwise as big American Internet companies have. They can’t get the same numbers of users. Only 5,5 million Danes – regrettably, that all the world has! Small country – small services.
WordPress does not offer any features to compensate for that. Which discriminates small countries as well as poor countries. And the users. But we still need a solution such as manual pinging.
Can’t we have that feature back?

Afraid not as we run different software here at wp.com. It’s covered in the Please read me first at the head of the forums. Do note the *.org in the address that you link to.
WordPress does not offer any features to compensate for that.
WordPress and WordPress Multiuser are open source softwares. Feel free to contributeto it if you want. Complaining about it just makes you look rather bad.
I got to admit that I was going to suggest manually pinging with pingoat.com but they don’t list it either.
Why not just ping the service directly? I’m sure they offer some method to do so.

No they don’t. They write, that you are to ping from your blog to politik.blogbot.dk. There is no feature the other way around. blogbot.politik.dk is freeware too and there is no application that can enable what you suggest, dkmike. It is not commercial. There is no marked for a commercial company for bloggers in Denmark yet. Denmark is a small country :D.
WordPress.com did have manual pinging as a feature, but it was cancelled. So there is no need for reinventing a programme for that. WordPress.com already have it.
What is needed is a way to bypass WordPress.com via a third party or to persuade WordPress to give us manual pinging back.
I am not sure that politik.blogbot.dk have the capacity to refuse all the pinging from for example ping-o-matic. The system only need a few out of the millions of pings, that ping-o-matic sends out every day.
It is not so easy….

It just occurred to me, why there is no feature the other way around: it is because it would leave en opening for spam.

i found something that might work for you:
http://pinger.blogflux.com/scroll down, and blogbot.dk is under “language options”

Thank you, judyb12. Actually it is not the real Blogbot, is it a copy version from a copy cat group, that broke of the main site some weeks ago. They deliver 6 – 10 views a day or something. :-D
Never the less we did not know about the existence of this homepage and I have written the real Blogbot and they are looking into it.
Thank you again, judyb12. This might be a scoop!
