Feedburner help – Important!
-
Here’s some advice for newbies, which I found out the long, hard way: If you want to have a Feedburner feed on your blog, with an RSS icon, you must first register your blog at Feedburner (www.feedburner.com). Somehow, everyone assumes people know that — I didn’t, and most newbies probably don’t. The things you learn…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have gone from being helpless to offering help in 8 days. I am very impressed with myself. If I can do it, there is hope for everyone!

Thanks for all the help – I’m finding myself as a newbie lost many ‘a time with this subscription bit. What I can’t find is what feedburner looks like on the user side. So after you’ve registered with feedburner what does it look like on your dashboard? can you see the subscribers or just the number of subscribers? May be a silly question and that’s why I can’t find an answer. Second question, once you’ve registered with feedburnder does give the reader the option of subscribing via RSS and/or email? It seems in the sites I’ve checked out under the different feedburner topics that both options are given and that they seem to be driven by feedburner. Any help would be appreciated.

@bethanygola – Feedburner is a totally separate service. You won’t see anything in your wordpress dashboard. You need to log into your feedburner account to see those stats.
It’s up to you whether you add the email option. Search the FAQ here on “email updates” for a step by step of what you’ll do at feedburner to make that happen.

I set up a blog a month ago. I am ready to publish but need to have an email subscribe option up first. I went to Google (feedburner) and tried to register my feed but it says it’s “not found”.
How do I get it to find what I know is there. I did Feedvalidator and it shows up.

What did you tell Feedburner was the address of the feed? It should be http://indoorsports.wordpress.com/feed

I’ve done everything possible to get an email subscription to feedburner. Everything seems to go ok–widget shows up on my site, it’s usable, email signs up, is told that it’s ok and then nothing. No subscription shows up on my feedburner stats and a new post doesn’t generate an email. I have looked EVERYWHERE (that I can think of) and can’t find out why it appears to be ok but just isn’t. I even thought that a time lag might be the problem, so I waited overnight. I have now tried this 7 times, deleting the feed after each new attempt that didn’t work. What do I do now?

As I said in the other thread, the URL you posted for the feed has a typo and that will never work.
Feedburner feeds go out once per day. Perhaps you should set this up and leave it for 24 hours.
-
Also, the URL you posted was not for your Feedburner feed but for your WordPress.com feed. That will never work. You need to run your feed through Feedburner, get the URL of the Feedburner feed, and use THAT for the emails.

anyone know how to get the actual box to show up for the subsrciber to type into? my feed is live and i’ve done everything else i can think of. the word subscribe shows up but then there is no place to actually type the email into. Any help is appreciated :)

We need your blog URL and also your Feedburner Feed URL in order to help. Also, can you paste the code you’re trying to use here, between backticks, so it shows up: backtick, all your code, backtick. Backticks are usually on the same key as the ~.

Congratulations, dwoog! Not bad to offer help after 8 days only! You are going to be a pro in no time!
I’ve been a blogger for almost 1 month, but come here only with a ton of questions :-)

teachertamara…Did anyone answer your question? I’m also trying to get that box (where people put in their email) to show up. I’m guessing it’s the Subscription Form Code (instead of Subscription Link Code). When I copy/paste that code into a text box, it strips out most of it, and makes it not usable.
I checked Keith Ferrazzi’s site, and he’s using feedburner (now I’m even sure it’s the Subscription Form Code). But now I’m thinking that WordPress isn’t compatible with the Subscription Form.

@teachertamera, if the blog you are talking about is hosted here at wordpress.COM, then you need to follow this FAQ to do an email subscription thing: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/11/how-can-i-offer-email-updates/ .
