Feedburner RSS traffic count
-
Hello – i created two text widgets on my blog page, one to subscribe via email and the other to subscribe via RSS feed, both courtesy of Feedburner. Both are functional, but I am pretty sure that the feed count only counts the email subscribers and random searches. How can I get it to also include RSS feed readers? I dont know how many of my subscribers use that method. Thanks!

I believe the Feedburner stats report includes everyone who uses the Feedburner feed. That’s the main reason it became popular here; the email subscription thing was an afterthought.

Update: due to yet another glitch with feedburner, the email subscription notifications did not go out for 24 hours, but the RSS feed notifications went out right away. Not a big deal really, but it did reveal a truth about the stats report: only 5 visits recorded during that time, and all random visitors doing keyword searches.
So back to my point – the stats do not count RSS subscribers since they dont have to click back to the site to read a post, at least as i have it set up (incorrectly?), so the site visit counter is low-balling the reader count, in a way.
Is there a way to count the RSS subscribers and include them in the mix, or am I overthinking this?
thanks!

actually I am not even sure that the stats counter includes the email subscribers. there is a moderate spike in traffic at the start of each month after I post a story, but that may only be subscribers who then also click back onto the site. If you could clear this up for me, that would be great. Thanks.

I’m not really sure what the question is: is this a question about Feedburner stats? If so, you’re going to get the best answers over at Feedburner.
If the question is how to force the RSS subscribers to get counted, you could set your feed to partial instead of full posts and then any one who’s really reading your posts will be forced to go to the blog or drop you (warning: quite a shocking number will drop you instead).

The dashboard monitors exactly how many subscribers there are to the site. As to RSS traffic monitoring, there does not seem to be a way to determine how many, if any, there are who use the RSS feeder. I couldn’t find anything in either the forum or FAQs to wordpress.com
