Feedjit widget not recording the correct location information
-
I am using the free WordPress blog and I have always had my Feedjit widget (html version of widget) showing all the countries and information of my followers showing correctly. Lately I have noticed that it keeps showing the same location for everyone: San Francisco California.
I have sent a request to Feedjit but I have not heard back, I was wondering if anybody else has come across this problem as of June 2016? If so, what did you do about it? This is driving me crazy as I have already tried to change my home location with the site but it does not update. I also checked on other computers and although the home location for the others is correct, the information showing on the feed counter is still wrong. Any suggestions?
Thanks,The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry but we cannot assist with any Feedjit issues. It’s a third party widget.
I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. Thank you for the update, I will look for a reply.
I have just visited the website for Feedjit and it appears that the JavaScript version seems to be working. I wonder if it is a non-java script issue?
I also had a friend who has a free WordPress blog check hers as well and all of her location information that is live also shows San Francisco for visitors too. H’mm… I will be interested in seeing what the answer to this situation is.
Thanks again, -

Hi timethief, I appreciate you helping me on this.
I just visited a friends blog at https://embroiderbee.wordpress.com/
and saw she is also having the identical issue. As a matter of fact, she has the exact same information just separated by a few hours, example: Redmond Washington. The rest of hers shows San Francisco too. Do you think you could take a quick look for me and see if you have experienced this before? I saw that you wrote about this widget in September of 2015 but I can’t find anymore updated information anywhere. Thanks again. -
Please be patient while waiting for a Staff response and know that third party widgets are not actaully supported here by our Staff.

No problem, I certainly will
I was just curious if this might have been something that may have occurred before that a fix could be recommended for? I always try to find solutions to things on my own, in fact I enjoy doing such, but this one has me boggled for the moment. Thanks again for your help. -

Hi there,
We had to update the way we embed images and feeds from other sources due to the fact that all sites on WordPress.com now loads over https. This has caused some third-party services that only offer http links to no longer work here.
This isn’t something we can fix, as we cannot allow both https and http content on one site – allowing non-http links causes security warnings in people’s browsers when they view your site, and completely negates the purpose of serving your site over https in the first place, namely to protect your privacy and that of your site’s visitors. As @timethief also indicated, we don’t officially support the Feedjit widget, so there has never been any guarantee that it will work on WordPress.com.
The only way that widget will work again is if Feedjit updates their link to be served over https, but I’ve seen numerous reports online, not just from WordPress.com users, that they no longer respond to any support request, and people are speculating that the site is no longer being maintained. If that is true, it’s unlikely that widget will ever work on WordPress.com again.

kokkieh,
Thank you for your descriptive answer along with the assistance from timethief on this subject. You both made it very clear that 3’rd party apps were not supported, so I really want to say thanks to both of you for helping to clear this up. I am sure I am not alone in that. Have a great night! -
Sorry it wasn’t better news. I liked the Feedjit widget as well, but in this case there’s nothing that can be done on our end.
