feeds

A bit new to all this blogging biz. Some questions:
1. FEEDS- Is there a way to know who subscribes to your blog?
2. Is there a way to control the “format”– full or partial feeds? Thanks for any help!
-
The feed is restricted for private blogs, but for public blogs it is fully open.
As far as I am aware the feed is the feed and there is no way to change the feed. -
hi, ozrisk. i’m not referring to who can or can’t subscribe– was asking if I can know who’s subscribed to blog via feeds? (am i confusing myself?) thanks!

Sorry – misread. AFAIK, there is no way to find out. You can find out who is opening your normal pages using activemeter or a similar tracker, but I do not think htere is one that works for feeds.

(For a non-techie, this RSS thing is driving me nuts. I keep going over the FAQ but I might as well be reading German. I appreciate the patience :D)
I’m using the Blix theme. So I placed the RSS1 and Feeds widgets in the sidebar. Do I have to do anything else aside from dragging them to the sidebar box? Like inputting anything in their configure window? I clicked on the configure button for RSS1 and read “Error: could not find an RSS or ATOM feed at that URL.” Do i just ignore this?
Much thanks!

oh my… I think i’m understanding this wrong… I have to put the Feeds widget so readers can subscribe to my blog, but I don’t have to put the RSS widget because I’m not subscribing my blog to anyone else’s…. is this correct?
-
Not quite – the RSS goes out from your site without you having to do anything. You can put the RSS widget in there if you want feeds from other sites to appear in your site.

There is no such thing as a “Feeds” widget. The Meta widget give links to your feeds; some themes have feed links hardcoded into them already; and you can put your feed links in a text widget.
The RSS feed widgets are for displaying someone else’s feed in your sidebar. You don’t use them for your own feed.
It took me a while to figure out this feed stuff, too :)

“You can put the RSS widget in there if you want feeds from other sites to appear in your site.”
Thanks, ozrisk. Okay… since I don’t, I can remove this widget, right?judy, thanks for the help :) using the blix theme, they are two separate widgets– one RSS and another Feeds.

woops, sorry- one more question about feeds.
feeds stat says, for example, 18 feeds-> does that mean unique viewers or it can be just 3 viewers clicking the whole day?
thanks!
