Feelin’good Theme: Background image only shows on default/home page
-
Hello! I’m trying to setup a new site to showcase artwork, but I’m having trouble with the basics for the selected theme. I chose the Feelin’Good theme as it has an overall layout and aesthetic that appeals to me without a lot of added complexity. I have the homepage looking pretty good, but the background image that I uploaded only shows up here, and not on any other pages or posts. In the theme editor for the About page, for instance, the details show that my background image is selected, but no matter what I do I only ever see the default image that came with the theme. It’s a pretty image, but it’s not my image, and not what I want to show. I’ve tried clearing my browser cache, but that didn’t help. I’ve tried turning on and then off again having a Featured Image for the About page (which isn’t what I’m looking for; I’m looking for a Background Image).
I’ve had the site in “Coming Soon” mode, since there are no actual posts, but I’ve changed it now to “Public” so that you can see what I’m talking about.
I can’t figure out what I’m doing incorrectly here. Is it a bug with the theme? I’m close to activating a different theme to see if that helps, but I’ve spent a lot of time already trying to make this one work and I’m not anxious to repeat that all over again. Plus, this theme seems to match my goals pretty well.

I’ve figured out that the templates supplied by the theme each use their own independent cover block, which apparently overrides the site-wide background image. So, it’s necessary to replace the cover block image on each of the default, page, and single post templates. This is non-intuitive, and seems like extra work, but it works.

Hello there @mrcfraser!
Thank you for reaching out to ask about this!
When you’re using a theme that uses the Site Editor (a Block theme), the pages and posts on your site reflect the template design that is being used to style them.
In your case, there are some templates that are included by default with the theme, for which you’ll want to go to those templates and update the image used in the Cover Block. Those Cover Blocks can be managed on each of your templates to show the image you want there instead.
An example is your ‘All Archives‘ template which will be the default layout used on a blog page, if any page is set to be your ‘Posts‘ page. Another example is your ‘Single Posts‘ template which will be used to style individual posts.

Hello there @mrcfraser!
It seems we were responding at the same time! I’m glad you’ve been able to identify where the changes needed to be made! This is essentially the template system in use for the Site Editor, so that you have control over designing your site’s layout!
Using the Site Editor, you can design everything on your site using blocks, from the header right down to the footer. This guide will show you around the editor. Access the Site Editor To visit the Site Editor, follow these steps: Start from your site’s dashboard. Locate Appearance on the left side. Click on Editor. If you do not see Editor here, your theme does not supportThank you for your feedback!

Thanks! Yes, it only took me a good few hours of experimenting to finally figure this out, minutes ahead of your reply. ;)
I’ve updated each of the templates now, and I think I’m good to go.
