Festival Of Code Week long business trial

Our team of 10 – 13 yr olds are doing a week long Festival Of Code event and would really like to use WordPress to create a cool website, however to be able to win a prize we need to be able to install plugins. Please, if there is any way to have a week long free business trial we would love it and wouldn’t have to change our project. Thanks!

    Hi there,

No problem! If you purchase a plan (including the Business Plan), you can cancel it within 30 days and receive a full refund. You can treat this similar to a trial.

Bare in mind that refunds are only given to domains if they are cancelled within 48 hours, so I would not suggest using a custom domain else this amount will be deducted from your refund.

    Official documentation: https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

Best of luck with the event, and let me know if you have any further questions! :)

At WordPress.com all upgrades need paying for annually in advance although there is a 30 day refund window. But I must point out that WordPress.com doesn’t accept users under the age of 13 (16 in the EU). This support document says:

Our Services are not directed to children. Access to and use of our Services is only for those over the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). If you are younger than this, you may not register for or use our Services. Any person who registers as a user or provides their personal information to our Services represents that they are 13 years of age or older (16 years or older in the European Union).

Perhaps, with wanting plugins it may be easier to use the WordPress.org software in some way? I have added the modlook tag to ask a staff member to reply.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Hi there,

Sounds like it could be a fun week of teaching others to code. If you’re only wanting the site up for a week or less and using it for educational purposes I would recommend running WordPress locally on the computers instead of trying to host it somewhere such as WordPress.com. Using software like Local you’ll be able to get started for free.

As others have mentioned the WordPress.com Business Plan does allow plugins and contains a thirty-day money back guarantee. However, in your case, that wouldn’t be my recommendation.
