why am i getting fewer views the last few days? have certain regions been cut off from wordpress? there has been a dramatic drop in my viewer statistics. They were generally around 150 to 200 for the past couple of months. The last few days have been 48, 78, 68 — this is too dramatic a plunge. I want to know if certain countries and regions have been cut off from wordpress.

WordPress.com does not cut off any countries and never has. Some countries like China block wordpress.com.

WordPress.com does not cut off any countries and never has. Some countries like China block wordpress.com.

It’s just so bizarre that in the past few days my views have suddenly dropped 150% while the number of people who ‘like’ my posts have increased. Could it be something on my end causing my blog to blocked from certain viewers. Could I have hit something inadvertently?

Likes are misleading. Your followers can “like” your posts in several locations without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Either way it’s odd that in the last few days the page views have dropped so dramatically. Since another blogger mentioned her stats going down, I thought maybe something was happening with wordpress. Oh well, maybe everyone’s watching the olympics.

Your search engine referrers started dropping off about the same time. Unfortunately, we have no control over how search engines operate their indexes.

In short, it means that the Search Engines are sending you less traffic, and perhaps not ranking you as high as before, so less people are finding you via Google, Bing, etc.

Was just a link and a snippet published on the GoodReads site or were whole posts published there?

The whole thing is on there. The first few sentences appear then there’s a ‘click to see more’ message. You click on that and the whole blogpost appears on the Goodreads site.
