File Change Warnings
-
I keep receiving email File Change Warnings. Four times in this month I’ve received a notice that the file file was changed: wp-admin/php_errorlog. Also there was a change to the file: wp-content/updraft/log.76741ac13655.txt
I don’t know what this file is or how to verify if this is a threat or a system glitch. Does this indicate that my account has been compromised? I have Ithemes Security.
Thank you for any information. -
Hi @aurielashley,
Your site is using the self-hosted version of WordPress.
These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only :) https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
I recommend you to check your file permissions
- All directories should be 755 or 750.
- All files should be 644 or 640. Exception: wp-config.php should be 440 or 400 to prevent other users on the server from reading it.
- No directories should ever be given 777, even upload directories. Since the PHP process is running as the owner of the files, it gets the owners permissions and can write to even a 755 directory.
