File size and type limits, are they linked to particular hosts? Confusing.

  I would like to set up some pages that will include a few embedded video clips – either flv or mp4, flv files preferred — and some jpg and png files. Looking around the web, I see references to mp4 and flv files being used, but when I try to upload media no movie files are listed as options. Also, the graphic file size limit is 2 megs. In trying to figure that out, I see references to variation between hosts. Does this mean I need to select a particular host for my WordPress site that will allow these files? This is all less than clear when you sign up. TIA.

  Whoops. File size limit is 1gig, so that’s not a problem. Still stumped at lack of video upload options. Do I need to install a plugin first? So far my biggest flv file would be under 30 megs

  Bumbling along, I’ve found some answers. Need to stay away from Google, which industriously tends to highlight posts that are several years old.
