file upload in custom header option is inconsistent

I’m trying to create a custom header and when I choose a file from my computer, sometimes it uploads, but more often than not, I get a blue box with a question mark on the page for image cropping. I’ve tried this with a variety of image sizes and there is no rhyme or reason for why the files may or may not upload. In fact, I’ve experienced this with the exact same file – sometimes it uploads it and sometimes it won’t. Very frustrating, since my 14 year old daughter created a blog at the same time, made a custom header with a high res photo and started blogging away. Please help.

Don’t upload the same file more than once without changing the name; that always leads to problems.
That said: it’s always best to size the header to the exact size before uploading. It seems that some themes are glitchier than others, as well, so that’s something to be aware of.
What kind of file are you using? JPG?

Yes, I’m using jpeg. I’ve tried changing the file names, but will certainly try again. Right now, it’s uploading nothing. Thanks for the suggestions.
