file upload to media library

    A short time ago I had trouble loading a pdf file to media library. Somebody very kindly uploaded the file after I sent it to them.The same thing has happened again. With four similar files uploaded successfully one will not. size no problem.

    Hi Ron,

    What program are you using to generate that PDF file? I suggest trying a different program to generate it and then see if it can be uploaded.

    Can i get an assistance with uploading audio file which is 274 mb. when i try to upload the audio, it says unexpected responce from the server. the file may have been uploaded successfully. check in the media library or reload the page. but i dont get my audio. can anyone assist me please

    @anthonykgonyanaonestopshoporgza, I don’t see a WordPress.com site on your account. What’s the address of your site? If your site is hosted elsewhere, then you’ll want to contact your host to help you upload that file.

    All my files are generated with MS word.docx. and from there converted to pdf.
    Never had any trouble at all before with that method. Notice in my original request I stated 4 other files exactly the same method loaded ok

    Hi Ron,

    When you say “converted to PDF”, do you mean you used Word’s “Save as PDF” function? Or something else?

    If you’ve been saving as PDF in Word, can you check if it makes any difference if you convert the file using the Print option instead (as in File >Print >Save as PDF), or if you convert it through uploading to Google Drive?

    How large is your docx file? Are you able to upload that file to the media library?

    Something in how the file is being encoded is preventing it from uploading correctly, and trying the tests I suggested above will help narrow down whether it might be something specific to how Word is converting it that’s causing this, or whether it might be due to something in the file content.

    What is the size of this file that you’ve trouble with? That is, can you list out the file sizes of these 5 files?

    2.)
    For the file you’ve trouble with, as far as you can tell, can you notice anything that is different in terms of data and format for this file compared to others?

    3.)
    Have you tried a different web browser to upload?
