Files opening after deleted?

Hi

I’ve just delete some files from my media files uploaded (in this case, images), so I’ve deleted these images and they’re not now in the gallery, but if I load the url of one of pics in my explorer (IEX7, Firefox), images keep opening.. why?
Anyone knows how much time it takes to erase the deleted files, or please tell me another way to delete files permanently.

What you should do is log out, clear your browser’s cache and cookies, and then close your browser. Then go back and log in and see if the file is still showing up. Also, sometimes it takes a little bit until the image gets cleared off all WordPress.COM’s servers.

Images are heavily distributed and cached at WordPress.com for performance reasons. Deleted image urls will sometimes continue to function for a few hours before they expire from all caches.
