Fill Width of Column with Image

    Hello,

I wanted to know how I could use an image and have it display to the full width. I’ve done it with large images but I would like to start doing it with bands or strips, sort of like this (cabel.me), under the posts headline and time stamp. How can I achieve this look?

    My site is (melhorleonor.com)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you consulted the theme description at this link? http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hum/

Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels)
The main column width is 628 except in the Showcase page template where it’s 740

I did. But as will note here (http://melhorleonor.com/category/the-gray-areas/), the theme shrinks the image and also places a border around it.

Any idea? The original image is 628, by the way.

The images on cabel.me are regularly inserted images, but the blogger has the Custom Design upgrade and has used CSS editing to define a special class for full-width images.
If you don’t have the upgrade, the only thing you can do is upload and insert images that are 740px wide or larger, and set the post format to image instead of standard. Downside: the post will have the label “Image” above the post title. (Up to some months ago this wouldn’t happen, but then WP came up with the idea of adding labels to alternative post formats.)

Thank you so much justpi. I think I’ll just live with the image label.

I dont know if it’s protocol to ask another question on the same thread, but… would you or anyone have any idea how to make a post on a category always remain at the top? I have tried to work around this to no avail.

    You’re welcome.
(Brilliant idea those labels, isn’t it? Only visitors of extraterrestrial intelligence would realize they’re seeing an image if you didn’t write “Image” above it…)

The sticky option works on the main posts page only, not on category pages. Judging from the content of the single post on your “Grey Areas” category page, I’m guessing that what you’re looking for is an intro to this page. To do this, you go to Posts > Categories, click Edit below the category name, type the intro into the Description field, click Update.

My target audience isn’t extraterrestrials, making the (expletive) labels really bothersome.

I tried that option, but wow is it ugly on this theme. :(

I don’t see what’s ugly in it: it’s the same font, color and size with the regular text of the posts.

I think it’s just my background that makes the text hard to read. I’ll try to find a way around that. Thanks again for your expertise!
