Filtering blog posts

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there-I’m a wordpress newbie and I need some help. I would like to create blog posts on different topics. Ideally, a reader would either be able to read all my posts as they are published, or be able to click on a topic that interests them and then be directed to only those related posts. Are separate pages or categories the best way to do this? I know different themes allow for different options, how do I make sure the theme I pick can accommodate? (I’d like to have all my topics at the top of my landing page) Any help or tutorials you could point me to would be wonderful. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Ideally, a reader would either be able to read all my posts as they are published, or be able to click on a topic that interests them and then be directed to only those related posts. Are separate pages or categories the best way to do this?

(I’d like to have all my topics at the top of my landing page)

See the Category Pages and Menus section of the Categories support page. You’ll assign selected posts to categories of you choice, which automatically creates category pages. The you’ll provide links to the category pages in a custom menu.

I know different themes allow for different options, how do I make sure the theme I pick can accommodate?

Any WordPress.com theme can accomodate category pages and display a custom menu.

    with spelling corrected:

See the Category Pages and Menus section of the Categories support page. You’ll assign selected posts to categories of your choice, which automatically creates category pages. Then you’ll provide links to the category pages in a custom menu.
