Does anyone else think that this might, finally, be the threaded comment feature which is added?

I don’t think they’d boot three million people out of their blogs just for that. I think it has something to do with server testing, as we’ve seen some real server weirdness over the past couple of weeks.

It’s not that just yet. Code changes like comments can be made with no impact – just like previous changes where people come here to say something looks different in the blog.
This is only about cookies. This is why you will be logged out at the point the system checks your cookie – such as when you publish a post. And if you are not around at the time the next time you come to your blog you will have to login again.Threaded comments are on the way.

Good to know. This is way off topic, but is there any chance of a preview feature for comments?

You know, much as I appreciate all that WordPress offers, it has to be said that QA isn’t their strong suit. I think threaded comments will be great, but I expect a lot of other problems when they finally get rolled out. I hope there’s plenty of warning before such a major change happens.
