Finally got around to redirecting my old blog to new blog. I no longer have the date before the post name in my slug (for my new blog/site). Old posts on old site have the date, so the redirect for any of these old posts results in “unable to find…” responses on new blog page. I tried to add dates with / separations for the slug, but the “/” symbols won’t “take” how can I edit the old posts’ slugs to retain the 0000/00/00/ format? so that redirects will take readers to the same post on the new blog/site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The specific post in question (that got a lot of hits on old blog still), that now gets the “page not found” message is:
http://marketweightpress.com/2010/04/05/on-finishing-a-fiberglass-animal/New url: http://marketweightpress.com/on-finishing-a-fiberglass-animal/
I don’t mind going in and changing those old posts to retain the 0000/00/00/ format by hand. But wordpress won’t allow me to change the slug to include the “/” character in url.

fyi: I don’t want to have the date within the slugs of posts, so please don’t suggest that I change the formatting to include dates and thus “problem solved.” I’m aware of this. I don’t want the dates for any of the newer posts and from now on..

Hi there,
Please note that the permalink structure at WordPress.com cannot be changed. Our site redirect is somewhat limited and cannot be customized to the level which you mentioned.
Visits to specific posts or pages are automatically forwarded to the matching URL, and you cannot specify a customized rewrite rule (to remove the date, for example).
If you would like, we can remove site redirect and refund it if you decide you do not want it within 30 days of the purchase.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply! Good to know. No, let’s stay with the redirect, since I need to delete the old blog eventually, and maybe I’ll get a few folks to move over to the new blog/site in meantime. Thanks again for the reply and info–much appreciated!
