finding email followers
-
Hi there, when I go to jetpack, settings, disscussion and then to subscriptions to view my email followers when I click on that it says I do not have a wordpress site yet? would I like to start one? It then asks if I want to create a site or use the henandhorsedesign that I already have. my question is why am I being asked this? and do I need to ‘get a site’ to view the email follower? My goal is to view my email follower list that I see prior to publishing a post.
WP.com: Unknown
Jetpack: Yes
Correct account: Unknown -
Hey hi hello!
Is https://www.henandhorsedesign.com/ the website in question? If so, there’s a bit of (understandable) confusion going on.
Basically, your website is not hosted with WordPress.com (a managed-hosting platform), which is why it says you don’t have a WordPress site yet. It seems your website is hosted with Bluehost and built with the WordPress.org software variant (click here for more information).
To access your website’s dashboard, you’ll have to log in through your web host, in this case Bluehost, which is separate from WordPress.com.
I hope this helps!

Hi,
What’s your site’s address so I can have a look and point you in the right direction of getting support?
-
thank you. yes that is the site address. While I am able to get to the back end of my site via blue host, once in the back end I cannot see the hundreds of email followers. I though most of my subscribers are thru flodesk but I recently saw this prior to publishing a post. When I follow the jetpack path, it then leads me to ‘sign up with wordpress. I wonder if I pay and sign up, would I then be able to see this list? At some point, I will need to learn more about wordpress.com or wordpress.org (that’s another rabbit hole lol) for now I am trying to access this list of subscribers and cannot. Thanks a bunch for your reaching out. I’m not that comupter saavy although I did build my site from nothing, boy was that painful…but I did it and learned a ton of things. Any thought on how I can access this list?

Hello hello again!
I must commend you for building your site from nothing! Building a site can be daunting at first for anyone — more so for someone who is “not that computer savvy”, as you put it. Truly, nicely done!
To immediately summarize in respect of your time, I suggest you make this same post in the WordPress.org forums here:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/Or, if you prefer, here:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/The WordPress.org forums there are better equipped for handling your issue, on the basis that your website is hosted outside of WordPress.com.
If you’re interested in having context, I’ll be happy to oblige!
Firstly, for an analogy, websites are like folders containing several files. These folders need to be organized into “boxes”; more accurately, they need to be “hosted” by a “web hosting provider (box)”.
The term “WordPress” has three forms:
WordPress Software
– A website building software
– (Software that helps create and arrange files to fill a folder)WordPress.org
– A project focused on maintaining and improving the WordPress softwareWordPress.com
– A website hosting provider (a box!)
– Has Paid Plans for different levels of features and services (i.e. reachable tech support).(For more info, you can read this: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/ )
Aside from WordPress.com, there are different hosts (boxes) — Bluehost, Siteground, and many more.
The WordPress.com forums, where we are right now, is dedicated to providing support to websites hosted with WordPress.com (so, websites within the WordPress.com box).
For the support of websites like yours, which has a host other than WordPress.com, there is the WordPress.org documentation, forums, and more:
Documentation – https://wordpress.org/support/
Forums (confusing at first) – https://wordpress.org/support/forums
Forums (straight to general WordPress-related help) – https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/And so, because your matter is related to the Jetpack plugin, I recommend posting at the Jetpack-focused WordPress.org forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/Or checking here:
https://jetpack.com/support/Any thought on how I can access this list?
I’m not sure, but I did find this:
This might have useful info: https://jetpack.com/support/subscriptions/
Specifically under “Can I see who my subscribers are?” and “Why can’t I see all my email followers?”I also came across this WordPress.org post (where this discussion should be taking place):
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/best-way-to-add-followers/
Although it’s been two years, and it seems the Staff suggestion didn’t work for you. Also, if this is actually Flodesk related, this may be of interest:
https://updates.flodesk.com/release/yFxdW-view-details-about-a-subscribers-analyticsI wonder if I pay and sign up, would I then be able to see this list?
I don’t imagine this is necessary! I suggest making a forum post where I suggested first. (unless someone immediately corrects me right here, of course)
Also how can you tell I’m hosted on .org rather than .com?
I looked up your website http://www.henandhorsedesign.com/ at https://lookup.icann.org/en/lookup and saw that the Nameservers mention Bluehost! A WordPress.com hosted site would mention WordPress.
Which is preferable?
That is entirely up to you! You would have to compare the benefits of your Bluehost hosting package to the benefits of WordPress.com’s plans based on the following:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/If you have any more questions regarding your website, I suggest posting in the WordPress.org forums, as the .org forums are specifically tasked for assisting websites like yours, whereas the WordPress.com forums are almost exclusively for WordPress.com hosted websites. Conversely, you might be able to get some answers if you contact the support teams at Bluehost, although that may depend on what your Bluehost hosting-package provides.
And if you have any questions concerning WordPress.com’s hosting service, you already know where to find us! :)
Sincerely, I hope this helps! Take care, and I wish you plenty of happy luck!

Wow. You’ve explained things so well. Thank you kindly. I will look to check out all you have ‘left for me to do’, ‘homework’!
I appreciate your kind words about building the site. I literally knew nothing but determination, I suppose, to ‘figure it out’! At first, it was totally trial and error and quite painful.lol
Thank you again for your thorough response!
