Finding Friends in the Absence of Friend Finder
-
Yes, I know that Friend Finder has died a horrible death. My question, then, is whether anyone knows of a tool that duplicates at least part of its functionality?
I’m not worried about getting followers, necessarily. I don’t want to invite people (if they like my posts and they sign up, win!) I do, however, want to find blogs to follow, and some of the blogs I’d like to follow are probably written by people I know. I mean… I have them on my social networks and in my contacts list for a reason, you know?
So far, I’ve found no way at all to locate them. Am I out of luck?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Click the Proudly powered by WordPress link in the footer on the front page of your blog and discover you have a self hosted wordpress.ORG install.
This is wordpress.COM. You will get the support you need on the wordpress.ORG support forum for your import and domain transfer.
I’m sorry but you are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you here at wordpress.COM because that site is not hosted here, our support docs do not apply to it, and we do not provide support for sites we do not host.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

I don’t really need help with my blog, per se; I’ve got it under control. What I’d really like to know is whether there is an easy way to find one’s friends on .com. I write on my external install, true… but I follow(ed) blogs using the wordpress.com site before I fell off of the face of the earth.
As noted, I know Friend Finder is gone. Is there a third party tool (for example) that cross-references contacts and registered WordPress installs?

I don’t know of one but I think your odds of getting an answer are better on the wordpress.org support forum than they are here.

Fair point. I’ve been digging, but I suspect that most .org folks are more into solo publishing v. the social aspect here. I’ll hit them up though, thanks.

I can help with finding blogs hosted by wordpress.com and beyond by subject matter. https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2014/01/20/finding-blogs-with-similar-content/
