Finding my blog on search engine
-
Hi, I’ve set up a blog and done my first post. I can only find it if I log onto wp on my own account, not on a search engine – do I need to alter a setting somewhere?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As long as your blog isn’t set to private you’re good to go. Although we may be in the C21st with all the wonders of the Interweb I’m afraid things don’t happen instantly. It can take a few weeks for Google etc to crawl over new blogs, and even then there needs to be enough original material/images etc for them to bother. Keep blogging and in due course your blog will get added.

It’ll take some time.

Search EnginesTo save you time going there, here’s what’s relevant to your question:
Why isn’t my blog in Google?
WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. The search engines can take 4-6 weeks or more to add any new sites. Connecting a Google account with verified site ownership through Google’s webmaster tools may help register your site for inclusion. Please contact Google for more information. So you should be on Google well before your novel is published next year! Good luck!

themagicrobot’s advice is good and correct – you just have to wait for the search engine Spider Robot Things to crawl over the site and add it to their web. That’s probably the exactly correct technical terminology. So for now, best way to get to your site is bookmark your Admin page, and get others to Follow your blog or Bookmark it as well.
