Finding the right path to building a wordpress gallery
-
Hi I need a little advice, I’m just starting out with WordPress, I have a little experience building web sites.
What I want to do in WordPress is set up a gallery site for my wife’s paintings. I want to build a 1 post/page
gallery with thumbnail images in the sidebar with links to the paintings which appear in the main column scrolling vertically.
I’ve been googling my options, I’ve read Timethief”s articles about putting images in html tables, I’ve seen some gallery plugins like NextGen, YAPB and Lazyest. My problem is having no experience building a WordPress gallery, I have no idea how to decide which is the best (and simplest) path.
So maybe you guys that have been here before me can advise me which is the best way to go, also should I use WordPress.com or WordPress.org?
Thanks for any advice, any pointers to other threads on this subject appreciated.David

Hi David. Among the documents, have you read this? (Re: WordPress.com)

There’s also an excellent blog justjennifer, another Volunteer has set up Not the Official WordPress.com Gallery FAQ.

Uh, timethief, that’s the same link ;-)
What I meant to say is that this link is in regards to having a gallery at WordPress.com (as opposed to WP.org as the OP inquired)
